Rolwaling/ Gaurishanker Himal Trek – 20 Days Trip Facts Located in the west part of the Khumbu, directly on the Tibetan frontier there is a wild, lonely high valley the Rolwaling which is called simply the grave by the indigenous Sherpa’s on account of its location – buried down between steep ice-giants. Many mysterious stories have been passed on about his valley. Through which the forefather of the present –day Sherpa’s once came. It is here that the notorious and celebrated Yeti is supposed to make his home. Entire research expeditions have, so far unsuccessfully, attempted to find him. Rolwaling trekking is non-touristic trekking region in Nepal. For the superb view of Mt. Gaurishanker, Rolwaling Himal, Chobabhamre, Yalung Ri, Pachharmo Peak, Dorje lakpa etc, trekkers have to follow the route of Rolwaling. Incredibly the Rolwaling region is known for the variety of plants like 525 species of plants, 40 species of orchids and 300 species of birds including other animals like musk deer, Himalayan black bear, thar, gaur and wild dogs. Though Rolwaling region has deep relation and influence of Tibetan culture still it offers a range of Nepali Culture. On Rolwaling region the trekkers will have great exploration of ancient Tibetan monasteries and other colorful festivals. As it is near by the boarder to Tibet the people are mostly from Tibet. But also the Brahmin and chhetri from Nepal are living there. The area is even well known by the fan of Ramdung Go peak(5930m), Yalung Pass (5310m) and varied trips to Tashi Lapcha Pass 5755m. As the peaks are, but the Na Gaon is also the most important spot. Outline Itinerary Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu. Upon arrive met and transfers to your hotel. Day 2: Trek preparation day in Kathmandu. Day 3: Drive to Barabise (114 KM). A short walk and overnight camping. Day 4: Barabise to Kabre 1605m Day 5: Kabre to Dolangsa 1789m Day6: Dongsa to Bigu Gompa 2310m Day 7: Bigu Gompa to Chilangka 1923m Day 8: Chilangka to Dulong 1809m Day 9: Dulong to Shalu 1500m Day 10: Shalu to Simi Gaon 2540m Day 12: Simi gaon to Forst Camp 2800m Day 13: Forest Camp to Bedding 3695m Day 14: Rest day in Bedding Day 15: Bedding to Na gaoun 4100m Day 16: Day hike to Tsho Rolpa (4500m) and back to Na Gaoun Day 17: Na to Forest Camp 2800m Day 18: Forest Camp to Chet Chat 1500m Day 19: Chet Chat to Charikot. 1000m Day 20: Drive to Kathmandu and transfers to the hotel Day 21: Sightseeing day in Kathmandu.
